Some Disclaimer Stuff:

A lot of the content on this site will feature stories, scenarios, tips, tricks, methods, etc as they pertain to type one diabetics doing various activities in outdoor environments. Therefore, in consideration of these things:

  1. Readers should be well versed in the terminology used to describe certain situations and actions type ones are typically familiar with, like “lows”, “hypos”, “BG”, “CGM” or “Dose”, or “Test”, etc.

  2. If you’re a type one diabetic, you should be managing your own diabetic control as prescribed by your Dr., Endo, CDE, RN, etc.  That being said, we don’t be provide any diabetic medical info. Any info mentioned here in this site regarding blood sugar, A1c, insulin dosage, delivery devices, glucose metering, etc, only pertains to the writer’s own accounts, their own specialized treatments, my own specialized methods, and should only be taken as opinion or observation.

  3. Certain outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking, snow sports, backpacking, trail running, mountaineering, camping, cycling, etc are inherently dangerous and do require professional training. Readers of these posts should be aware of the risks in participating in these kind of activities and have acquired professional instruction if intending to participate in any of the activities mentioned here, and we will not be providing any professional instruction on these activities. We are simply providing scenario narrative and opinion as it may apply to a type one in the outdoor related activity. The person partaking in any of these activities assumes all risks involved.

  4. Certain outdoor activities are expensive and hazardous personal property such as insulin pumps, CGM receivers , CGM transmitters, BG testers, smart devices, even insulin vials, so if any readers are so inspired by an activity read here on this site and attempt to replicate it by partaking in the activity, then the reader will assume all risks involved, including but not limited to, bodily injury, and loss of personal property. The person partaking in any of these activities assumes all risks involved.

  5. Many of the scenarios, activities, sports, events mentioned in this blog site require minimum levels of fitness and abilities to partake. Readers should have reached a minimum level of fitness if intending to partake in these activities. We may touch upon ability levels and fitness levels but only as reference as it pertains to the writers and personal abilities. Don’t attempt if not ready.

This release basically acknowledges that you understand risks involved with the activity you are signing up for.

Understanding that any outdoor activity comes with inherent risks of injury and even death in the most extreme cases.

You are also agreeing not to do things that may jeopardize the safety of the guide or other participants.

You are agreeing that you will not adversely interfere with the natural environments we will be using (other than normal use of the trails, equipment and infrastructure) This includes wildlife, sensitive ecosystems, manmade structures, maintained trails, markers, safety devices, safety structures, and personnel.

Since you are signing up to join us on this activity, you are doing so at your own will and you understand all the risks involved. (if you don’t, please ask. If you still don’t, Please don’t sign) You’re also agreeing to let your leader know if you have any medical condition that needs to be disclosed before we set out, and you agree to prepare yourself adequately before the activity and be as self sufficient as possible as not to be an adverse burden upon the rest to the party or strangers.

You’re agreeing to indemnify, and to hold Type One Outdoors and its guides, drivers, agents, associates, employees, owners, volunteers, leaders, affiliates, helpers, and participants harmless and promise not to sue.

We take lots of photos on these treks, and participants usually wind up in the pictures shared on Type One Outdoors social media, and web pages in efforts of promoting future and past activities, trips and events.
